I’ve been so up-set about the oil spill in the Gulf. I really didn’t know that there was anything I could do to help with the clean-up, that’s so out of control.
One day I was just looking on the internet, and came across this web-site, matteroftrust.org.
They went into detail on how hair was very absorbent. They said that they collect the hair and put it into recycled nylon and turn them into Oil Spill Containment Booms. These booms soak up and retain the oil.
I was so excited to hear this, because I have a lot of hair. (I own a Salon.) So I decided right then and there that I was going to start collecting it and send it away to be used in such a way. However, I’ve put it out there that I’m doing this and haven’t really had much response. Hopefully, that will change.
I really feel that we all have to do our part in helping to clean this mess up. If it weren’t for the high demand that we put on oil, we wouldn’t be in this mess. You’d think that with all the technology we have in the world, we would have a total alternative by now that didn’t require one to be a millionaire.
The thing that annoys me the most, is when a potential client walks in on a Friday afternoon, or a Saturday and asks if there is an opening for them right then and there. When you politely tell them you’re sorry, there isn’t any until a certain time, they look at you like you are evil and how dare you not have time for them. Do you know who they are?
Actually, I really think they’re waiting for me to look at the client I’m working on right then and there and say, ” Oh so sorry, but you’ll have to excuse me. Someone way more important just walked in and I need to cater to their every need. You aren’t as important of a client, so step aside and let me take this person that just walked in.”
Really!!! Some people have no clue!
The next time you, (you know who you are) walk into a salon and expect everyone to drop everything for you, think about this and remember……We Don’t Care Who You Are!!!!!
If we don’t have the time, we really don’t have the time..Believe me when I say, I’d love to be able to take everyone, but it just isn’t possible.
So really people out there with children…Do you think it’s saving money when you cut little Bobbie or Sally’s hair yourself? In my opinion, it’s a form of child abuse.. (not being serious really.) Come on though, do you have any idea how many parents bring there children into salons after having mutulated there hair and expecting a miracle. It’s great that you all have confidance in our abilities, but really? I’m down with adults practicing self mutulation on themselves, if that’s what they want to do, but leave the poor children out of it. Let it be known, that we hairstylists have been known to do a little self mutulation every now and again (a mistake well learned.) It’s just a little funny isn’t it the things we feel that we are capable of doing and doing just as well as those professionals that have gone through extensive schooling for. Yeah I’m guilty of it myself. Sometimes I think I’m an electrician. (did not go well.) So what I guess I’m saying is think twice before you go to pick up those sewing scissors.
